Fishy Fishy
A very fishy game
Controls:
WASD or arrow keys to move
E to enter locations
Press spacebar to fish once you buy a hook from the store (you can only fish at the pond at the top until you buy the boat)
if you click the bottom right bucket, you will open your fish inventory to see what fish you have available.
I made Fishy Fishy for Mini Jam 209: Deep. I read deep as the under water kind: piers, a pond, a lake once you can afford a boat, hooks and worms, a restaurant, a race tank, the rest of the water side of the game.
In fishy fishy you catch fish, sell the duds, feed the winners, then breed them on the farm, and race the ones you think have a shot. There’s a shop, a track with a bear to enforce the one life rule, and a loop that ends for now with saving for a submarine. Ocean is not in yet. Buying the sub is the win condition for now (didn't have enough time to add the ocean and new creatures :( but will later)
I took one life only and used it as one life per fish. If you put your own fish in a real race in the tank and it loses, that fish is gone. Betting matches use random fish, so the ones in your bag are not on the line there. This to me is a fun way to use the one life limitation.
I started a full day late and only had about two days on it, so do not expect a AAA pond. The loop is very inspired by the Horsey game.
If you play it, thanks for giving a jam build a look. I had fun building this game despite the lack of time lol.
